    The Hualien Branch, Taiwan High Prosecutors Office has not been established until May 1st, 1965 for both Hualien and Taitong county are situated in the far distant eastern corner in the island. Before then the persons involved in the appeal court cases had to take the trouble of travelling far respectively to either Taipei or Tainan. In consideration of the inconveniences caused to the people in the area, and in anticipation of the expectations of the general public, the previous Ministry of Justice Administration had first the Provisional Court of the High Prosecutors Office in Taiwan set up as well as the Office of the Prosecutor. At the same time the Ministry set to actively preparing for the Branch of the High Prosecutors Office in Taiwan and the Division of Prosecution in the area, which were formerly established on July 15th, 1972 and moved into the current building for operation on February 1st, 1973. On December 22nd, 1989, they were transformed to the Bureau of Prosecution, The Hualien Branch, Taiwan High Prosecutors Office , in accordance with the practice of the modification of the court organizational law. On January 22nd, 1999, the Provisional Office in Taitong was set up in coordination with the Bureau of The Hualien Branch, Taiwan High Prosecutors Office
